PhilHealth to Roll Out Check-up Package This Year
Dagupan City (PNA) — The Philippine Health Corporation (PhilHealth) is set to unveil additional health packages for its members when the agency rolls out its check up benefit package this year.
This was bared by Riza Hontiveros, new member of the PhilHealth board and former chairperson of the party-list Akbayan when she graced the first Women Summit in connection with the celebration of Women’s Month in Dagupan City on Friday.
The Women’s Summit was led by Mayor Belen Fernandez and City Administrator Farah Marie Decano.
Hontiveros said the check up package will help push the vision of President Benigno Aquino III for universal health care coverage of all Filipinos.
Hontiveros said PhilHealth will roll out this year the checkup package for outpatients, which means that checkups for 10 leading diseases will soon be included as among those to be covered by PhilHealth.
The check-up package is very important since this will also cover laboratory tests and medicines. All these, she said will be enjoyed by sponsored and indigent members of the health fund.
Meanwhile, Hontiveros said the updating of the National Housing Targeting System (NHTH) is set this year through the joint partnership of PhilHealth and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“This will ensure that the poor and near poor of our citizens will surely be covered by PhilHealth and benefit from its health package,” she added. (PNA) LGI/LVMICUA/RMA
