PHILCONSTRUCT Visayas: Industry’s Best Under One Roof

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) reported that the country’s spending for infrastructure has grown significantly over the past five years, jumping from P165 billion in 2010 to P760 billion in 2016. The infrastructure program of this year makes up 5 percent on the country’s GDP, a figure considered the international benchmark for infrastructure spending. For Cebu, more than P18 billion worth of programs and projects have been endorsed to the City Council, proof of the city’s rise as a metropolitan business destination.

This is also why the country’s biggest construction show is set to hold its 7th year in Cebu. PHILCONSTRUCT Visayas will be held on June 2 to 4 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino with more than a hundred fifty companies participating from all over the world. The event is being held as part of the Cebu Business Month and is supported by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCCI) headed by its President Ms. Melanie Ng and CBM Chairman, Christian Paro-an.

“The building industry contributes a lot to our region’s economy in terms of employment because of the number of projects, in terms of tourism due to better infrastructure and facilities, and in terms of investments because the higher the quality of our buildings, the more companies choose to hold their office here,” said Peter Paul Dy, Jr., President of the Cebu Contractors Association, Inc.. “And through PHILCONSTRUCT Visayas, construction companies here now have easier access to world-class materials and equipment that they can use for their projects.”

The organizer, Philconstruct Events, Exhibitions & Conferences Corp. (PEECC), together with Cebu Contractors Association (CCA) and the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA), announced this year’s show highlights. The Cebu Furniture Sale is back which will be participated in by the Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation and the Cebu GTH (Cebu -Gifts, Toys & Housewares). Next are the Interior Designers’ Pavilion organized by the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID)-Cebu Chapter and the Architects Pavilion by the United Architect of the Philippines (UAP)-Cebu where trends and developments in the field will be highlighted. The show will also hold Technoforum Visayas, a series of seminars that serves as a knowledge-sharing platform for the industry players and opens a venue for trade professionals to discuss relevant matters and new information about the profession. Topics include Advance AMO (Authorized Managing Officers) Seminar with License for A-AAA Category, a first in the industry by CCA, ASEAN Engineering by Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), Safety Practitioner Seminar by CCA, HEO Assessment (Backhoe, Crane, Loader) and Milling Machine Operators Training by Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors (ACEL), Scaffolding NC2 by RMD & PERI, and Painting NCR by Boysen Philippines.
