Philam Life Holds Groundbreaking of Corporate Center in Cebu

The country’s premier insurance provider, Philippine American Life and General Insurance Company (Philam Life), held the groundbreaking on the location of its soon-to-rise Cebu corporate center, last Dec. 13. The future 17-storey hub will erect at the Cebu Business Park (adjacent to the Ayala Center Cebu New Wing).

“We’re going back to the mainstream, to our original image as an icon,” said Rex Mendoza, president and CEO, on its transfer to Cebu’s new business district. “Philam Life has a very rich history, now (with the corporate) we are confident with our future,” Mendoza said.

The new Philam Life corporate center will cost P2.1 billion and will boast of a modern architecture that will standout as landmark in Cebu City, Visayas and Mindanao. The edifice will be iconic in the sense that the ground floor and mezzanine levels will hold commercial and retail shops, a roof deck garden, a function space for tenants while most of the space will be up for lease and the rest will host Philam Life’s office.

“The soon-to-rise Philam Life corporate center in Cebu City is a symbol of our commitment to invest in the economic progress of Cebu and the Visayas. Despite the calamities that hit the region, we believe Visayas will not only recover and rebuild; it will also thrive as a main cog that will drive the country’s economy,” said Mendoza.

Through its new corporate center, Philam Life is setting a benchmark in safety standards by adhering to strict earthquake and typhoon resistance building codes, designed to withstand winds of up to 300kph.
