PH Specialty Food Debuts in New York’s Biggest Specialty Food Event

International food buyers and visitors in North America checked out the tropical and delectable specialty food products of 10 top and emerging Filipino food companies in the Philippines’ first participation in the Summer Fancy Food Show (SFFS) held recently at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City from June 23 to 25, 2019.

Ten companies that exhibited under the FOODPhilippines pavilion were Amley Food Corporation, Brandexports Philippines, CJ Uniworld Corp., M Lhuillier Food Products, Monde My San Corporation, Profood International Corporation, Seabest Food and Beverage Corporation, See’s International Food Manufacturing Corp., SL Agritech Corporation and Theo And Philo Chocolate Factory, Inc.

Buyer Interactions

Philo Chua, founder of Theo And Philo Chocolate Factory, Inc., sampled in the SFFS 2019 their line of ‘Philippine Single Origin’ bean-to-bar chocolates infused with some of the country’s iconic tropical flavors like adobo, barako coffee, labuyo, calamansi, pili nuts and pinipig, turon, among others.

Liza Guinto, Vice President for Export Division of SL Agritech, presented to on-site visitors their Brown Rice Puffs, a relatively new product under their Doña Maria brand. In the event, SL Agritech also featured their variety of Jasponica and Miponica under the Doña Maria brand, as well as other healthy rice variants under their Willy Farms brand.

Mr. Robert Go presented samples of his company’s food products to American buyers.

J&C Philippines, a thin and crinkle-cut banana chips brand from CJ Uniworld, piqued the interest of visitors in the SFFS 2019. CJ Uniworld owners Robert Go and Fenny Go presented and sampled their crispy banana chips to foreign buyers in the three-day event.

This successful participation under FOODPhilippines was led by DTI-CITEM in coordination with the PTIC office in New York as part of the government’s unified effort to promote the Philippines as a source of quality food products in the global market.
