PH Average Salary Among the Lowest in the World

In a survey conducted by the analysis team of Picodi.com, the Philippines rank amongst countries with the lowest average salary in the world.

Out of 110 countries that took part in the survey, the Philippines ranked 95th with an average salary of ₱15,200.

The Philippines currently has a minimum wage of P10,740 per month in Metro Manila but the minimum wage may vary from different regions.

In 2018, The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said that a typical Filipino family needs a monthly of ₱42,000 to live “decently”.

Furthermore, Switzerland tops the ranking with ₱296,200, followed by Luxembourg with ₱198,500 in second place and the United States with ₱174,800 in third place.

Among Southeast Asian countries, Singapore ranked 5th with ₱168,900, Malaysia ranked 49th place with ₱41,300, Thailand ranked 60th with ₱30,600, Vietnam ranked 80th with ₱20,000, Indonesia ranked 96th with ₱15,100, and Cambodia ranked 105th with ₱10,500.

Picodi said that they processed the data from Numbeo and local currencies were converted at the average Google FInance rate for August 2020.

“We processed data from Numbeo, a website which surveys hundreds of thousands of citizens of various countries, asking them about the costs of living and actual earnings (after taxes),” Picodi said.
