PH Auto Industry Continuously Recovering
The automotive industry of the Philippines has shown continued recovery as May 2021 sales increased in comparison to April 2021, and May 2020.
According to the joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), the groups’ sales of the industry shows a 23.6 percent increase in sales compared to April 2021.
This month’s figure is also higher by 360.8 percent in comparison to May 2020.
CAMPI president Rommel Gutierrez in a statement said that the increase of sales is attributed to the relaxation of the quarantine protocol in the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus bubble.
The bubble comprises of the entirety of NCR, with the addition of adjacent provinces Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.
Passenger automotive sales also increased to 7,599 units sold in May 2021, a sharp increase from the 5,570 units from April 2021–translating to a 36.43 percent increase.
Commercial vehicle sales also increased by 17.8 percent this month, with 14,463 of sales in May 2021 compared to April’s 12,273 units. (GFB)
