The call of nature arrives and it greets you with a rainbow. What’s that supposed to mean?

Urine is the direct result of many processes that occur inside the body and thus it is an important indicator of health. Urine color is influenced by a variety of factors including food and drug intake but the most important one is the amount of water intake.

Here are some urine colors and their corresponding meaning:

a. Blue or green– it may be a result of food dye that you just ate but if it persists, it might be wise to check with your doctor

b. Orange– you’re probably not drinking enough water. It may also be a symptom of liver condition—it’s best to check with your doctor

c. Pink to reddish– it may be a result of eating colored fruits such as berries;–if not then maybe it’s blood. Contact your doctor immediately.

d. Brown– it’s a sign of severe dehydration. Drink plenty of water– if it still persists you might want to call up your doctor.

e. Amber– you’re not getting enough water. Drink up.

f. Dark yellow– within the normal range but you still need to take in some water soon.

g. Transparent yellow– within the normal range. You are well hydrated.

h. Pale yellow– perfectly normal. You’re healthy and well hydrated.

i. Transparent/No color– you drink too much water–you might want to lessen it a bit. (Adapted by Daryll Arcayan)
