‘Pedal Pub’ in the US
A bicycle-kind of vehicle where people can drink together, is rolling down the streets in some states in the US now.
Known as the ‘pedal pub’, it is a quadracycle with pedals underneath chairs and moves by human pedaling.
The bikes vary a bit in design but generally it looks a little like an old-fashioned trolley or train car. There’s no engine, just the legs of the passengers, who sit around a bar, facing each other. As many as 16 people can fit on the bikes, and groups rent them for bachelor parties, birthdays and corporate events.
Pedal pubs are the same as human-powered taverns that have become fixtures in more than two-dozen U.S. cities, including San Diego; Nashville; Houston; Flagstaff, Ariz.; and Minneapolis.
With the existence of the pedal pub or trolley pub, some states regulate the use of alcoholic beverages on the bikes though while some allow. The pedal pub is also known as the “Bike with a Barrel”.
