PDRRMC Asks: Be Responsive to Disaster Plans

The Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) on Thursday asked the people to support their preparations that aims to reduce risk during disasters.

PDRRMC and Task Force Paglig-on Chief Baltazar Tribunalo said that if the people are just responsive to all measures related to preparedness, lives and properties can be save during calamities.

Tribunalo said they already relayed their preparedness and mitigation plans during seminars they have conducted in almost all municipalities in the province.

Tribunalo also asked the members of the media to amplify their message so that the people may understand what and how to prepare themselves once man -made or natural calamity comes. He described the importance of the disaster risk- reduction and preparedness that needs to be shared by every part of the community.

“The media people were already briefed regarding the mechanics of all plans of the government’s disaster group”, Tribunalo said.

Aside from the media, other sectors such as religious, academe and business must also learn to help protect themselves and others, in case disaster will occurs, he said.

“All plans prepared by PDRRMC are risk-reducers which mean if this will be properly complied with, it will lessen the effect of a disaster against lives and properties,” he said.

Tapping the academe as a transmission center of all their risk-reduction plans could be of good help to inform the thousand of students enrolling in the different schools in the province, Tribunalo said.
