PDIC-GK to Hold Benefit Run for Yolanda Victims
The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) and Gawad Kalinga recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the holding of a benefit run, whose proceeds is intended for the survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda that mostly hit Eastern Visayas last year.
Dubbed “Takbo sa Pagbangon ng Leyte,” the benefit run will be held on May 4, 2014 at the PNB Financial Center, Macapagal Boulevard, Pasay City.
The MOA was signed by PDIC President Valentin A. Araneta and Gawad Kalinga Executive Director Jose Luis Oquiñena.
The activity is part of PDIC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program that aims to rebuild homes of Typhoon victims.
“The PDIC-GK partnership will put into action PDIC’s CSR statement of protecting the environment and promoting the balanced development of communities,” PDIC in a stament said.
“The run aims to promote public awareness on PDIC and its role in protecting the environment, and to raise funds to build
disaster-resilient shelters for families in Leyte in partnership with Gawad Kalinga,” PDIC stated.
The PDIC expects around 3,000 participants to join the 3K, 5K, and 10K run.
