The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), which is also considered as the main frontliners in the battle against drugs, intensifies its campaign through multiple programs such as demand and harm reduction.

Almost 4 years after President Rodrigo Duterte became President of the Philippines, PDEA-7 said that they are consistent in their efforts to win the war on drugs.

“Daghan tag mga activities sugod pa niadtong 2016 and mas gi intensify pa namo karon,” said Leia Alcantara, Information Office, PDEA-7.

Alcantara revealed that PDEA has 3 strategies on the campaign against illegal drugs.

“Sa una, naa na tay gitawag ug  supply reduction, which is ang pagpanakop ug uban pa pero karon naa natay demand and harm reduction,” Alcantara said.

“Ang sa demand reduction is ipalayo nato ang katawhan sa source sa illegal drugs, and how do we do that? by educating them unsay mga negative effects sa drug samtang ang kaning harm reduction, dili man gyud nato malikayan nga in the community right now naa na gyud tay mga drug users so naghimo ang gobyerno ug mga programa to rehabiitate and reintegrated them,” Alcantara added.

Meanwhile, PDEA-7 launched the “Bahay Silangan” in the town of Balamban on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 to help small-time drug peddlers to discontinue their business and start a new life. (MLC)
