PCOS Machine Testing Hit some Glitches

The final testing of Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines yesterday took longer than the usual time during the final testing in Mandaue City.

Faye Luarez, Mandaue City’s PCOS technician supervisor, said the problem was the improper installation of the machine, which, for her, is only minor. She said it was usually the misplaced memory cards that caused the error.

Meanwhile, other members of the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) had a hard time installing their PCOS, taking about an hour to finish the whole process. But the BEIs said they would rather want it slow to ensure that everything is in place.

In other areas, there were PCOS machines which were reported to be defective. Cebu Provincial Election Supervisor Eddie Aba said these will be replaced as soon as they can.

Last month, 3169 PCOS machines arrived in Cebu for the province’s polling precincts.
