PCG Cebu Says Everything Ready For Sto. Nino Fluvial Procession On Saturday
An official of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Cebu Station on Thursday said everything is ready for the Sto. Nino de Cebu fluvial procession on Saturday morning.
PCG Cebu Station Commander Agapito Bibat said only the organizers were required to secure a permit for the activity and pay the Php 1,000 permit fee.
Bibat said a total of 139 vessels, including 60 motorized outrigger bancas, have been cleared to join the fluvial procession.
The image of the Sto. Nino de Cebu will be on board a replica of the galleon used by Ferdinand Magellan in his voyage to Cebu.
Bibat said the PCG will deploy one personnel on each of the participating vessels to ensure the safety of the participants.
All those on board the motorized outrigger bancas will be required to wear life jackets.
Bibat said no liquor or any alcoholic drinks, balloons, guns and deadly weapons will be allowed in all the vessels
The fluvial procession takes the icons of the Sto. Nino de Cebu and Our Lady of Guadalupe from the Ouano Wharf in Mandaue City to Pier 1 in Cebu City. (PNA) RMA/EB/EDS
