The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) announced it will put up regional offices in Cebu and Davao this year.

PCC Chairman Arsenio Balisacan said that the opening of regional offices will strengthen its advocacy and capacity in its competition policy enforcement.

“In particular, we aim to establish investigation hubs in key commercial centers this year. The investigation hubs in Cebu and Davao are planned to be transformed into PCC Regional Offices next year,” Balisacan said.

The enforcement of competition policy in the country remains relevant as the country’s economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since its establishment in 2016, The PCC has received 659 queries and informal complaints as people are now aware of the agency’s function.

The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) is an independent quasi-judicial body created to fulfill the national competition policy — Republic Act No. 10667 or the Philippine Competition Act (PCA) which goal is to promote and protect market competition in the country. (ASC)
