PCAC Eyes Computerized Police Clearance
The Police Coordinating and Advisory Council (PCAC) is now studying the recommendation to computerize the issuance of police clearance at the Cebu City Police Office to make it easier for the public to secure the document that can be availed in a few hours once implemented.
The matter was one of the issues discussed in yesterday’s PCAC meeting chaired by Engr. Eugene Elizalde and attended by City Treasurer Emma Villarete who supported the plan because it will benefit the public.
At present, only one Manila-based company had submitted its proposal to supply the needed equipment without the need for the city to purchase them, but instead the company will just charge certain amount as service fee for every transactions made.
Villarete said the cost of the police clearance may be increased to a little amount, but she explained that it would be advantageous to the applicants because they will no longer need to wait for several hours or one day just to get their clearance.
Villarete said the personnel from the City Treasurer’s Office that is assigned at the CCPO collects an average of P360,000 every month from police clearance and other related clearances.
An ordinary police clearance only cost P45, meaning P20 for the certification and P25 for the documentary stamp, but those police clearance applied for travel abroad costs P125.
PCAC is inviting those other interested companies to submit for their offer.
