PCA Distributes 400 Cattle Heads to Bohol Cocofarmers

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in Bohol recently distributed some 400 heads of cattle to Bohol coconut farmers.

According to PCA-Bohol Information Officer Jose Allan Cajilog, the project is under the Livestock Integration Component of the KAANIB Enterprise Development Project (KEDP).

Aside from this, PCA has also distributed some 41 heads of cattle and 21 heads of carabao under the same project in the previous years.

“Today, the previously distributed livestock have doubled in number which consequently provided increased income to our Boholano coconut farmers,” Cajilog said.

The 400 heads of cattle were distributed to 17 community-based organizations in different KEDP sites in Bohol.

Adlawan MPC in Adlawan, Valencia town received 21 heads; Catmonan MPC in Catmonan Calape -11; Untaga MPC in Untaga, Alicia – 30; Buenavista MPC in Buenavista, Carmen – 23; Choco Hills SCFO in Buenos Aires, Carmen – 8; Baang MPC in Baang Catigbian – 30; Cogon MPC in Cogon, Balilihan – 40; Tanday MPC in Tanday Corella – 32; Poblacion 2 SCFO in Poblacion 2, Sikatuna – 26.

DICPMPC in Taongon, Can-andam, Dimiao – 28; Cabog MPC in Cabog, Clarin – 20; Katarungan MPC in Katarungan, Ubay – 32; Libertad MPC in Libertad, Tubigon – 30; Zamora Farmer’s Association in Zamora, Bilar – 26; Cogon Norte SCFO in Cogon Norte, Loon – 10; Candungao Coco Farmers Association in Purok 5, Candungo, San Isidro – 24; and Behind the Clouds in Batuan – 9.

The KEDP is designed to promote institutionalized coconut-based enterprise through an integrated resource service convergence approach to increase farm productivity and incomes of the small coconut farming communities.

The project showcases coconut-based enterprise in organized clusters of coconut farms in selected areas owned and or operated by the coconut farmers. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
