PB Urges LGUs to Have One Bulb Lit Overnight
For security reasons, the Cebu Provincial Board (PB) urged local government units (LGU) to require commercial stores and public offices to at least allow one light bulb turned on overnight.
The purpose of which, according to the PB resolution approved last Monday, is to deter crimes from happening.
“The simple expedient of turning just one light bulb on in front of the aforementioned premises at night has the potential of deterring mischief and crime thereby ensuring the safety and security to life and property far outweighing the financial cost inherent in having a single light bulb turned on overnight,” read a portion of the resolution.
The resolution stated that “whoever does evil hates the light” and that they will “not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.”
The board suggested that those establishments along highways must be well-lighted during the night.
