PB Authorizes Davide to Sign MOA with DOH for Medical Help Program
(PNA) — The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) has passed five resolutions authorizing Gov. Hilario Davide III to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Health (DOH) for the implementation of a medical assistance program (MAP).
MAP, which tags the poor as a medical assistance priority, will initially involve five provincial and district hospitals in northern Cebu.
These hospitals are located in Bantayan, Daanbantayan, San Francisco and the cities of Bogo and Danao.
Cebu PB member Peter John Calderon, author of the resolutions, said the MAP will provide aid to the indigent patients confined in the provincial and district hospitals.
The National Government appropriated Php 3.193 billion last year for the Medical Health Care Assistance Program of the DOH.
“The fund shall be utilized for the grant of assistance to indigent poor patients,” read a part of Administrative Order No. 2014-0024 dated July 15, 2014.
The order is the basis for the MOA.
DOH 7 director Jaime Bernadas will sign the MOA.
The signatories for the hospitals are Dr. James Najarro of Bantayan District Hospital, Dr. Prudencio Manubag of Danao Provincial Hospital, Dr. Abraham Maderazo of Daanbantayan District Hospital, Dr. Lea Celestial of Ricardo L. Maningo Memorial Hospital in San Francisco and Dr. Zoraida Yurango of Bogo Provincial Hospital.
The DOH will transfer funds to the hospitals for medical assistance to eligible patients. (PNA) RMA/EB
