PATA Summit Kicks Off
Around 300 local and international delegates from 43 countries will join the 2019 Pacific-Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Summit on May 9.
Staring Thursday until Sunday, May 12 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, the theme “Progress with a Purpose” is the focus.
The summit focuses on sustainable growth both for value and quality of tourism in the Asia Pacific Region.
The event unifies international leaders, industry shapers and senior decision makers.
PATA is an association responsible to promote and develop travel and tourism in the region.
Among the 383 delegates, 289 are foreigners and 94 are stakeholders.
Around 194 organizations will also represent in the summit.
The summit will look for various ways to help shape up the travel and tourism industry as we are moving into the future.
There will also be a youth symposium that gives children and young professionals, even students the chance to engage with major industry leaders.
The summit will also have a United Nations World Tourism Organization-PATA Leaders Debate to discuss current issues affecting the industry.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) hosted the 2019 PATA Summit.
DOT-7 Director Shahlimar Tamano said that this summit will surely boost Cebu’s tourism industry.
“This event serves as an opportunity to showcase Cebu as a Mice and leisure destination. This is our time to showcase Cebu’s sites, attractions, facilities, culinary delights, services and our actions with regard to protecting our environment,” Tamano said. (MLC)
