Parts of NCR, Luzon Uses Manual Voting
Defective Precinct Count Optical Scans (PCOS) were reported in several areas in the Philippines, advising voters to cast their ballots manually, a watchdog said on Monday.
Ana De Villa-Singson, media director of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) said the towns of Marikina, Batangas, Quezon City, and Bulacan were having defective PCOS machines.
Singson said Barangay Nangka in Marikina resorted to manual voting and the Bureau of Election Inspectors (BEI) will input their manual ballots into the PCOS machine later.
Meanwhile, 95 percent of the PCOS machines are not working in Lipa, Batangas which prompt them to do manual voting at the same time.
In Northside View Highschool, 100 percent of the ballots were rejected by the PCOS machines. According to Singson, Comelec is on their way to resolve the said inefficacies.
In Quezon City District 6, the voting has been adjourned due to defective PCOS machines.
Singson added that a power interruption occurred in Barangay Sta. Monica, Novaliches proper that caused voting delays. The wires have been cut and no technicians were available. In Pandi, Bulacan, all ballots were reported to have no serial numbers.
