Pandemic Boosts Utilization of Online Learning Tools
The pandemic has changed how education is delivered, especially at the K-12 and college levels. With schools forced to adapt to the new normal of teaching, online learning tools became the priority instrument for the education sector.
Blackboard, an EdTech company, has seen a great increase in the utilization of its services in 2020 compared to 2019.
Online learning became a viable tool for the education sector as schools are still closed to follow health safety protocols in the country.
Philip Murray, Vice President for Blackboard Asia, said that online learning can be a viable tool for the future even after the pandemic. As schools and universities re-open, they could utilize hybrid learning (online and traditional learning).
The University of Sto. Tomas (UST) and Malayan College Mindanao (MCM), are partner schools of Blackboard, have utilized online and remote learning even before the pandemic.
“Through Educational Technology, MCM hs seamlessly transitioned from blended to fully remote and online, ensuring continuity of learning and engagement with students and the community during the pandemic. As we move toward the next normal, MCM will continue to embrace the digital future for higher education and will continue to equip our students with the skills for the connected digital world,” said Engr. Dodjie Maestercampo, President and CEO of Malayan Colleges Mindanao and Malayan Colleges Laguna.
Blackboard is an EdTech company founded in 1997 that serves higher education K-12, business, and government clients around the world.
