Palace Wishes Pacquiao the Best in His Title Fight this Sunday
MANILA – The Palace wishes fighting congressman Manny Pacquiao all the best for his title fight against American boxer Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas on Sunday.
In a radio interview over dzRB Radyo ng Bayan, Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte, said she is confident that Pacquiao will prevail over Bradley come Sunday.
“Confident tayo na mananaig si Manny Pacquiao over Timothy Bradley,” she said.
The nation, which backs Pacquiao in every fight, anticipates a win, Valte added.
The Pacquiao-Bradley welterweight match is a rematch between the two fighters. They fought in June 2012 with Bradley bagging the title and at the same time sparking controversy over the legitimacy of the win.
Bradley seized the World Boxing Organization belt from the Philippine icon with a narrow split decision that many believed the American boxer did not deserve.
After losing to Bradley, Pacquiao suffered another setback when he was knockout in six rounds by Juan Manuel Marquez in his next fight.
And after several months away from the ring, Pacquaio won a lopsided decision over Brandon Rios in Macau, marking the start of another illustrious chapter in his storied career.
Pacquiao, a congressman from Sarangani province, brings a record of 55-5 with two drawn and 38 knockouts to the bout.
Bradley on the other hand boasts a record of 31-0 with 12 knockouts. (PNA)
