Palace Urges Public to Support Gilas Pilipinas in Asian Games
Manila (PNA) — Malacañang has urged the Filipinos to again support Gilas Pilipinas basketball team that will compete in the 17th Asian Games that will kick off in Incheon, South Korea on Friday.
“Over the next two weeks, let us show Team Philippines the same support as they carry our flag in the 2014 Asian Games and again showcase the ability of the Filipino people to the world,” said Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte.
Valte said Gilas Pilipinas exhibited Filipino excellence in sports during the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup “by playing with fervent passion, scoring our first win in forty years and winning the hearts of international audiences.”
This year’s Asian Games slated until October 4 will cover 36 sports and disciplines.
“We take this opportunity to wish our team good luck,” she added. (PNA) FPV/LDV
