Palace Secures Napoles’ Senate Appearance
Malacañang said on Sunday all measures are being taken to secure Janet Lim-Napoles for her appearance before the Senate blue ribbon committee this week.
Presidential Communications Operations Office head Herminio Coloma Jr. said the Palace remains hopeful that Napoles’ Nov. 7 appearance will help uncover the truth behind the scam, Gma news online reported.
“Ginagawa ang lahat para sa kanyang seguridad…. Umaasa tayo sapat na rin ang naging paghanda ng Senado ukol dito ,” Coloma said on government-run dzRB radio.
Report said Coloma also maintained that Malacanang recognizes the hearing will be under the Senate’s control, adding the Senate is an independent branch of government.
Napoles has been scheduled to appear before the blue ribbon committee on Nov. 7 to shed light on the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) mess. She was charge of setting up fake non-government organizations to siphon PDAF allocations of some lawmakers, Gma news online reported.
The Department of Justice had also charged Napoles and several personalities, including some Senators, with plunder for the multibillion-peso scam.
“Nais naming sabihin kaisa kami ng sambayanan sa pagsasabi sana ito makatulong sa pangkalahatang paglilinaw o pagtuklas ng katotohanan para maugat ang pinanggalingan ng maaanomalyang paggamit sa PDAF para mausig ang mga gumawa ng katiwalian at mapanagot sila,” Coloma said.
