Palace Lauds El Gamma Penumbra for Winning 1st Asia’s Got Talent
Malacañang on Friday commended El Gamma Penumbra, a Filipino shadow play group, for winning the grand finals of the first Asia’s Got Talent on Thursday night at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
”We praise the group of El Gamma Penumbra for their success as champion of Asia’s Got Talent in Singapore,” Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a text message to Malacanang Press Corps.
The Filipino group won the hearts of the viewers of the show which was aired live over cable channel AXN for their final number which paid tribute to Mother Nature to the song “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas.
The El Gamma Penumbra, which started as a hip-hop crew from Tanauan, Batangas, defeated their closest opponent Khugsugtun, an ethnic band from Mongolia.
The first Asia’s Got Talent champion brought home USD 100,000, having received two Golden Buzzers from the judges during the auditions and in the semifinals.
”They symbolize the natural talent and skills of the Filipinos which for many instances have already been proven in the different international arena,” Coloma said.
The Palace also commended the performances of two other Filipino finalists Gerphil Flores and Gwynet Dorado.
Flores is a classical singer from Paranaque City while Dorado is a 10-year-old singing sensation from Pangasinan province. (PNA) FPV/JFM
