Palace Declares May 3 Regular Holiday for Eid’l Fitr
The Malacañang declared May 3 a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea relayed the advisory through a text message per the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta or the Islamic religious authority in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) recommendation.
The Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta have made the declaration after groups assigned to do moon sightings finally saw a crescent moon on Sunday.
Eid’l Fitr is determined when a crescent moon is sighted in the Islamic month of Shawwal through the use of the lunar-based Islamic calendar.
Eid’l Fitr is one of the important Islamic celebrations. It is a three-day celebration after a month-long Ramadan fasting. (ASC)
