Palace Assures No Cover-up in Inquiry Into DAP-Funded Projects
Manila (PNA) — Malacañang has assured that there will be no cover-up in its ongoing inquiry into projects funded by the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).
”That’s our commitment. The list (of DAP-funded projects) is there. The numbers are there. What we want to do is to make sure, to inform the public what are the status of the projects,” said Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda in a press briefing Thursday.
The government is preparing for the accounting of DAP-funded projects.
”What we are doing and if you ask each and every Cabinet secretary, they will be able to provide you some information on the projects that are under them. We will be releasing the list of projects at the appropriate time,” he said.
Lacierda stressed that the Ombudsman will be doing the prosecution.
”I already mentioned yesterday that they will comply with their constitutional mandate in investigating, in doing the process of investigating each and every allegation,” he said.
The government is now framing its legal position after a recent Supreme Court (SC) ruling declared as unconstitutional some provisions of the DAP.
Under the rules of the court, it is given 15 days from the receipt of the decision within which to file a motion for reconsideration. The Office of the Solicitor General received the decision on July 4. (PNA) LAM/LDV
