PAGASA: Storm-free Weekend for PHL
The country will continue to be storm free for the next two to three days days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Benjie Depas said the agency is not anticipating any cyclone to affect the country until weekend (Saturday).
However, he said PAGASA is still expecting one to two tropical cyclones to affect the country for the month of November.
The next tropical cyclone will be locally named “Marilyn” and “Nonoy”, the 13th and 14th tropical cyclones to affect the country this year.
Meanwhile, Depas said parts of southern Mindanao will continue to experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains because of an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), which is considered as a breeding ground for LPAs.
Extreme Northern Luzon, on the other hand will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with passing light rains due to the effects of the northeast monsoon.
Depas said the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rains because of localized thunderstorms.
For Wednesday forecast, PAGASA said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains is expected over the islands of Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
It added moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.
The state-run weather bureau also issued a gale warning due to the effects of northeast monsoon as the sea condition will be rough to very rough due to strong to gale force winds in the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon.
“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it warned. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
