PAGASA: Southwest Monsoon to Bring Rains This Week
Expect rains in the western section of the country on Monday due to the presence of southwest monsoon or “hanging habagat”, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
PAGASA said the southwest monsoon continues to be the dominant weather system affecting northern Luzon.
For Monday forecast, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of the country with rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly over the western section.
Light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and coming from the south to southwest over the rest of the country. The coastal waters over the whole archipelago will be slight to moderate.
The state weather bureau has not issued gale warning as the fisherfolks are safe to venture into the seas.
In the next few days, the country will experience rainshowers as the southwest monsoon will intensify and is expected to bring occasional light to moderate rains over Luzon.
Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
On Friday, (June 10), the southwest monsoon will bring occasional light to moderate rains mostly over northern Luzon and the western section of central and southern Luzon. The rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
No tropical cyclone is expected to enter or develop inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) within the forecast period. (PNA) JMC/CLTC
