PAGASA: Potential Tropical Cyclones May Enter PAR
State weather agency said Monday that a tropical depression and a series of potential cyclones or low-pressure areas may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) starting this week.
PAGASA’s Manny Mendoza, over GMA News Online weather report, said the weather systems are east of Mindanao, but its latest projections show the tropical depression may move north and could potentially affect extreme Northern Luzon.
Mendoza added the weather disturbance may enter PAR next week but with its upward movement, it may go towards Japan or Taiwan.
PAGASA said once the tropical depression enters the PAR, it will be locally codenamed Egay.
As of Monday morning, the tropical depression is about 2,500 km east of Mindanao.
Aside from the tropical depression, PAGASA also tracks at least two more LPAs east of the depression and a cloud cluster east of Mindanao.
