PAGASA: Northeast Monsoon bring rains in Luzon, E. Visayas Friday

Manila (PNA) — Cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers will be experienced Friday in some parts Luzon and Eastern Visayas due to two weather systems affecting the country.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the tail-end of a cold front is affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon while the northeast monsoon is affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

Aurelio said Bicol region, Eastern Visayas and the province of Quezon will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms while Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and the province of Aurora will have cloudy skies with light rains.

He added the Ilocos regions and the rest of Central Luzon will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated light rains and the rest of the country including Metro Manila will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Aurelio said due to the northeast monsoon, the state-run weather bureau also issued gale warning as the sea condition will be rough to very rough in the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Luzon and of Visayas.

”Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it warned.

Aurelio said the agency has not seen any weather disturbance near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) that may develop into tropical cyclone within the next three days or until weekend.

In its advisory, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) FPV/CLTC
