PAGASA Monitoring Another LPA Expected to Enter PAR, Headed for Mindanao
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued an update on its monitoring of a low pressure area (LPA) that is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
According to data from PAGASA, the LPA is expected to enter the PAR on December 26 or December 27, and will be closest to the landmass of Mindanao on December 29 or December 30.
Moreover, the LPA has a 60 to 70 percent chance of developing into a tropical depression, PAGASA added.
PAGASA advises the public to continue monitoring possible changes on forecasts and to take precautionary measures.
This comes after typhoon Odette (Rai) made landfall on Surigao del Norte province on December 16, 2021, and brought about total devastation of areas such as Siargao.
Typhoon Odette afterwards made landfall on Leyte and Cebu provinces, rendering the three provinces along with Surigao del Norte without water, mobile signal, and electricity, which escalated to overpriced commodities such as gasoline, and drinking water. (GFB)
