PAGASA Issues ‘Orange Rainfall’ Warning Over MM, Nearby Provinces
Manila (PNA) — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday issued an “orange rainfall” warning for Metro Manila and nearby provinces due to heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm “Kabayan”.
Orange warning level was issued around 6 a.m. over Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan, Zambales, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Rizal.
The orange rainfall advisory, the second in its three-stage rainfall warning system is raised in areas where rainfall is between 15 mm and 30 mm within one hour. Flooding is a definite threat in communities under the orange alert.
Meanwhile, a yellow rainfall warning raised in the provinces of Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon and also issued at 6 a.m..
Under the heavy rainfall warning system, a yellow rainfall advisory is raised when the expected rainfall amount is between 7.5 mm and 15 mm within one hour and likely to continue.
Communities given this advisory are advised to be aware of the weather condition and warned that flooding may be possible in low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains affecting Occidental Mindoro, northern portions of Palawan may persist within three hours.
“Flooding is threatening and people are advised to monitor the weather condition and for the next updates,” PAGASA concluded. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
