The Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund) is celebrating its 34th anniversary yesterday with more accomplishments biased to housing and other line of services such as cash loans and even the “Libreng Kasalan” of Free Wedding to all its members.

Vice President Victoria B. dela Peña, member services branch operations for Visayas and Mindanao said aside from accomplishing their mandate to provide housing to its members, they also focused their yearly giving of free of charge wedding to its members on February 14 next year.

February 14, which also widely known as Valentines Day celebration, is the usual day the Pag-IBIG helds free wedding.

Last year, there were 99 couples who availed this Pag-ibig service, in cooperation with the Cebu City local government unit headed by Mayor Michael Rama.

“There were supposedly more than 100 applicants last year, but only 99 successfully availed our service because of other applicants’ failure to complete their papers,” Dela Peña said.

“We don’t accept those applicants who have not complete their papers for wedding and we are very strict on this particular requirements,” Dela Peña said.

Dela Peña explained that every applicant must accomplish all pertinent papers needed by couples, such as marriage license approved by the city registrar’s office.

Once this document is already approved, that means the next thing to follow is the wedding proper where couples must hear advises from the wedding official before they receive the wedding certificate.

The Pag-IBIG office will be the one to shoulder the wedding fees and even the food services necessary for the mass wedding.

“Foods are served to the couples and even to their visitors during the wedding day,” Dela Victoria added.

“The only problem of the applicants are the processing of their wedding papers and wedding uniforms,” Dela Victoria said.

She added they are now starting to accept applications until January 13.

Dela Victoria said they are expecting more applicants this year compared to last year knowing as that every year, wedding applicants are increasing, just like the trend of housing applicants”, she added.

Dela Victoria also said that the February 14, 2015 mass wedding will still be held at Plaza Independencia, the right place for the mass wedding to be sponsored by Pag-Ibig Fund.
