PAG-IBIG Resets Free Wedding Rites to Feb. 12
With a total budget amounting to P600,000, a Pag-ibig free wedding offer for its members and non members is reset for final implementation this coming February 12, 2015, instead of February 14, of the same year.
This was announced yesterday morning by Pag-ibig Vice President for Members Services and Branch Operations Victoria dela Peña who said that the changes of the wedding date was made due to the in-availability of government services on February 14, the original date, because it falls on Saturday.
Dela Victoria added that they can not move too the activity to February 13, because if falls on Friday, “and everybody always remember the story on Friday the 13th, a bad luck,” she said.
Dela Victoria pointed out that for the meantime they have a total number of 100 applicants, which means 300 couples are lacking to avail the P600,000 total budget.
The P600,000 is the total allocation intended for 400 couples, with P1,500 each for services of foods and the reception site as well.
However, she said that the reception site which is the J Center Mall in Mandaue City will only provide services to any number of couples, whether it reaches to 400 or less, to be solemnized on February 12.
According to dela Victoria, every couple is limited only to have at least two witnesses to come with them at the reception.
She said the solemnization, which is scheduled at 9:00 o’clock in the morning, will be officiated by Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes.
The Pag-ibig officer also informed every couple applicant to wear formal attire of their own choice during the wedding day.
This is a pure public service of Pag-ibig to its members and non members alike, implemented on the month of February every year as a sort of their voluntary contribution to the unwed couples.
The Pag-ibig office only requires the Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) and birth certificates of both husband and wife, and their marriage license.
Dela Victoria also reminded everybody that the offer is not only limited to those couples who are not living together, but also to those who are already living together regardless of how many years, as long as they are willing to face the solemnization process.
Dela Victoria said that Pag-ibig sets this free wedding rites simultaneously nationwide on February 12, and all couples are free to join a raffle draw for a house and lot to be chosen nearest to the area where the winning couple lives.
