P16M Worth of Projects Set for Turnover to Camotes Towns

More than P16 million worth of infrastructure and farm equipment will be turned over to the towns in Camotes Island on Oct. 20.

Fishery devices taken from the P33-million rehabilitation plan of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 7 will also be ceremonially distributed.

Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale are scheduled to lead the activities.

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) said they may also recommend to officially turn-over the P15 million farm-to-market road (FMR) of Tudela.

OPA Officer-in-Charge Dr. Roldan Saragena said the FMR is 90 percent complete. This was funded by the Cebu Provincial Government and was implemented by the municipal government of Tudela.

He said Tudela Mayor Erwin Yu requested his office if they could formally turn over the project to the municipal government during the governor’s visit in the island.

Three multi-purpose drying pavements worth P301,909 will also be turned over to the farmers associations in Esperanza, San Francisco; Union, San Francisco; and Daan Paz, Poro.

The same farmers associations in Barangays Daan Paz, Poro; Esperanza, San Francisco; and another in MacArthur, Tudela will receive a corn mill each worth P100,000.

For the fishery inputs, these were part of the rehabilitation plan of BFAR 7 for those affected by typhoon Yolanda last November 2013.

The towns of Pilar, Poro, San Francisco, and Tudela were among those 16 local government units in the north that were affected by the typhoon.

Farmers associations in these towns will receive fish cages, seaweed cuttings, nets, fish pots, crab pots, set longlines, fish aggregating devices, and fish corrals (still for bidding).

BFAR 7 Director Andres Bojos is also expected to attend the event.
