P1.7B Youth Training and Employment Project Launches in Cebu
A P1.7 project aimed on youth empowerment, training and employment is now underway in Cebu as the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) launched YouthWorks PH in Cebu at the Quest Hotel on November 16.
YouthWorks PH aims to be able to reach out to at least 3,000 youth that are “not in education, employment or training” (NEET) in Cebu within the next 5 years in which those aged 18-24 and finished at least high school are eligible to apply to the different training programs to be offered by YouthWorks PH partners.
The project, which will address the lack of preparedness of the youth in being a part of the workforce, is a partnership with different sectors in the business industry such as Agriculture, Banking and Finance, Construction, Energy, Hospitality and Tourism, and Manufacturing among others.
Cebu is one of 7 priority areas where the project will be implemented.
The government will also be a part of the program with agencies such as DOLE and TESDA will participate in training and the employment aspects of the program. (GFB)
