OWWA Region 7 Scholar Passed Mechanical Engineer Board Exam
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Region 7 Scholar, Adam Ruta Cabarrubias successfully passed the recent Mechanical Engineer National Licensure Examination held last September 29-30, 2015.
Graduated last March 2015, Mr. Cabarrubias finished his BS in Mechanical Engineering degree, which is the broadest of all engineering disciplines in University of Cebu.
“Adam is one of our competent scholars who truly deserve the educational assistance of OWWA. He is an epitome to his fellow ODSP scholars to soar higher than where they currently are and prove to themselves that they can become successful in their own field of specialization,” OWWA 7 Regional Director Wilfreda L. Misterio said.
Mr. Cabarrubias was a scholar under the OFW Dependents Scholarship Program, a scholarship grant of P10, 000.00 per semester given to dependents of OFWs who are OWWA active members and who earn not more than US $400 a month.
“I thank OWWA for the scholarship (ODSP). Because of them I was able to finish college just in time. They have helped me not just financially but also taught me how to be a better person,” Mr. Cabarrubias said.
OFW Jeofrey Cabarrubias, brother of Adam is an Electrician in Saudi Arabia.
With this remarkable achievement in his life, Mr. Cabarrubias dedicated this and gave the credit to his parents.
“I dedicate this success to my family who were always there to support me and to God who always guides me,” he mentioned.
The newly-passed Mechanical Engineer is a younger brother of OFW Jeofrey Cabarrubias, an Electrician in Saudi Arabia. According to OFW Jeofrey, he is very happy about what his younger brother has achieved.
“Now that my youngest brother has already finished Mechanical Engineering degree and eventually passed the licensure exam, I’m really happy about it that all my efforts paid off,” OFW Jeofrey said.
“I really thanked OWWA for having a scholarship program for OFW dependents and that my brother Adam had the privilege to avail of it. If not because of the scholarship program of OWWA, I wouldn’t have sent my brother to school due to our financial struggles. Thus, I’m really thankful to OWWA, not just me but our whole family,” he further added.
As of this writing, Mr. Cabarrubias has no definite plans yet with regards to his career path. But what he is most certain of is that in the near future he would pursue his passion to serve his country first and then give himself a shot in overseas employment thereafter.
