OWWA 7: Calls for Model OFW Family 2015 Nominees
For the 11th time around, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region 7 once again accepts nominations for the Search for the Model OFW Family of the Year Awardees (MOFYA) 2015.
MOFYA is an OWWA initiative recognizing the outstanding achievements of our Overseas Filipino Workers and their families. This annual search likewise aims to promote success stories about the OFW families’ resilience amidst the challenges of overseas employment.
Only religious organizations, non-government organizations (NGOs), People’s Organizations (POs), OFW Family Circles (OFCs) and community-based socio-civic organizations, can nominate a family from Region 7 (Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor) whose head is a land-based or sea-based OFW, could be the father or mother, including widow/widower.
Moreover, the OFW may be presently working overseas or a former OFW. He/she has at least four (4) years work experience overseas. For former OFWs, he/she has returned to the country for good for not more than 10 years from the date of nomination. Lastly, the OFW must not be a holder of an elective /appointive position in national/local office and has no derogatory record, as well.
Selection of winners will be based on the following criteria: wholesomeness of the OFW family, civic/community involvement of the OFW and family, success in OFW’s and/or family member/s’ education or profession, and success in managing family finances.
One winner from each category, land-based and sea-based, will be chosen and will represent Region 7 in the national competition.
Nomination forms may be obtained at OWWA Regional Welfare Office 7, 2nd Floor, DOLE VII Building, Gorordo Avenue corner Gen. Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City.
All nominations must be in on or before September 30, 2015.
