Over P290-M Worth of Infrastructure Destroyed by Batanes Quake: DPWH
The Batanes earthquake is pegged to be P292.86 million worth of damage to infrastructures says Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
On a report as of Wednesday, July 31, 2019, DPWH estimated the total damage to be over P200 million on residential structures, public buildings, roads, and slope protection structures in the barangays of Sta. Lucia, San Rafael, Sta. Rosa Sta. Maria, and Raele of Itbayat town.
The DPWH conducted the inspections last July 29 to July 30.
The damages in Brgy. San Rafael was estimated to be P103.36 million in total for the 269 totally damage and partially-damaged structures. This comprises 258 residential structures costing P41.97 million, 11 public buildings with an estimated cost of damage of P57.88 million, P2.09 million worth of damage to local roads, and damages to slope protection worth P1.42 million.
Brgy. Sta. Maria suffered damages worth P81.94 million in total covering damage to 191 residential structures worth P32.70 million and public buildings worth P49.27 million with a total of P81.97 million worth of damage.
244 damaged residential structures were recorded by DPWH in Brgy. Sta. Rosa worth P69.35 million and damages to slope protection worth P1.26 million (P70.61 in total).
In Brgy. Sta. Lucia, 164 residential structures were damaged worth P19.95 million and two public buildings were also damage worth P5.36 million (P25.31 million in total).
Brgy. Raeke suffered worth P11.61 million in total damage to residential structures (P3.75 million), public buildings (P2.74 million), slope protection (P3.31 million) and local roads (P1.81 million). (ASC)
