Over 61% of Greeks Say ‘No’ in Bailout Referendum
Moscow (PNA/Sputnik) — Some 61.3 percent of voters in the Sunday Greek referendum voted against the lenders-proposed bailout plan, while 38.6 percent said ‘yes,’ the country’s Interior Ministry said Monday after all the votes were counted.
About 6 percent of the ballot papers were declared invalid, according to the ministry’s website.
The voting comes after Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced last week a nationwide referendum on whether Greece should accept its creditors’ demands for spending cuts and tax increases in exchange for further financial assistance in order to avoid default. (PNA/Sputnik) JBP/SSC
