Over 161K Arrived in PH on Christmas Weekend
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported that the country logged over 161,000 arrivals during the Christmas Weekend.
Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco said in a press release that 161,664 passengers arrived in the country from Dec. 23 to 25.
Most of the visitors, or 81%, landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport over the weekend.
Tansingco is optimistic about the rise in international travel. The current number of travelers is approaching pre-pandemic levels, indicating a positive trend for tourism and travel sectors.
In addition to the arrivals, Tansingco revealed that 130,497 passengers left the country in the same weekend.
The BI implemented measures for faster processing. Commissioner Tansingco urged arriving Filipinos to use e-gates for quicker clearance and reminded passengers to register on etravel.gov.ph 72 hours before travel. (ASC)
