Ormoc to Host 2015 Visayas Science and Tech Fair
Tacloban City (PNA) – The Visayas Cluster Science and Technology Fair will open its 2015 exhibit on Sept. 23 to 25 at the Ormoc City Superdome.
The fair in the northwest Leyte city is expected to draw about 5,000 exhibitors, researchers, students, government officials, journalists from different parts of the Visayas.
DOST Eastern Visayas Assistant Regional Director Ernesto Granada said this year’s fair, with a theme “Philippines: A Science Nation Innovating for Global Competitiveness,” will showcase local technologies.
Science and Technology Secretary Mario G. Montejo will open the exhibit as part of the department’s Science Nation Tour this year.
The three-day fair will start with a technical forum on food innovation center and its services, Science and Technology career for Filipino youth, food processing technologies, and government technology upgrading program.
On the second day, there will be a motorcade, press briefing, business meeting with the Regional Development Council, and technical forum on food processing.
Highlights on the third day are the 3rd Philippine Nuclear Congress, National Research Council of the Philippines forum on poultry and swine production, and Philippine Science High School quiz bee.
“There are 28 booths available during the fair with exhibit depicting the eight DOST outcomes,” he said.
These outcomes are centered on agriculture development, small and medium enterprise development, value chain and global competitiveness, business process management services, technology-based governance, quality healthcare, competitive science and technology human resource, and science-based weather information and climate change scenarios.
