Opposition Commends JVR’s ‘Equal Treatment’
Talisay City opposition councilors have expressed gratitude to Mayor Johnny Delos Reyes for his equal treatment despite their being in the opposite camp.
Councilor Socrates Fernandez of the Alayon Party even authored a resolution thanking Delos Reyes for the equal privilege accorded to him and his fellow opposition members. Fernandez and six other Alayon councilors in the present council ran with Alayon mayoralty candidate Eduardo Gullas, who was defeated by Delos Reyes last May elections.
But not like the usual opposition-administration political rift, Delos Reyes, instead of listening to his partymates, chose to give 50 job order quotas to each of the seven councilors from Alayon.
Fernandez said he authored the resolution, which is set to be approved in Tuesday’s regular council session. The resolution said “for generous and fraternal gesture for setting aside political affiliation to efficiently deliver the basic social services to the Talisaynons.” The elections has passed and the Alayon “pledged to support and help the positive and pro-poor projects of Mayor Johnny V. de los Reyes,” said the former mayor himself. Four other Alayon Councilors signed the said bill.
