Opening of Classes in Central Visayas Generally Peaceful – PRO 7
The opening of classes in Central Visayas on Monday was generally peaceful, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 said.
Chief Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr., PRO 7 director, said they have not received any report of any untoward incident during the opening of classes.
“It’s generally peaceful. We have very high police visibility in the different schools,” Comendador said.
In Cebu City, at least two uniformed police personnel were deployed in the different schools.
Traffic enforcers from the Cebu City Transportation Office were also deployed to man traffic near the schools.
Comendador said the high police visibility will be sustained to deter criminals from preying on the students.
Police stations were also ordered to conduct night patrols, especially in urban schools which are holding night classes.
Some 1.74 million students on Monday trooped to public elementary and high schools in Central Visayas as classes in public schools open in the region.
This is 16 percent higher than the more than 1.5 million students in Central Visayas who enrolled in public schools last year. (PNA) LDV/EB/SSC
