Only “Qualified” Households to Receive P6k Subsidy – DSWD

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 reported that the national government already downloaded P6-billion social amelioration fund for Central Visayas.

However, not all households will be able to receive the P6,000 subsidy.

DSWD 7 Assistant Director Shalaine Marie Lucero clarified this in a meeting with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 7, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and some Cebu mayors on Friday, April 3, when the agency was called to thresh out confusion as to where the promised assistance is.

Under the Bayanihan To Heal As One Act, the national government committed to provide assistance to Filipinos from the marginalized sector and those who lost their income because of the enhanced community quarantine.

“Kinsa ma’y mo-qualify? Una sa tanan ang kadtong labot sa conditional cash transfer, kamo di namo kinahanglan magpalista pa automatic nana i-download sa inyong mga ATM accounts over and above sa inyong gidawat nga P2,100 kada buwan. Pun-an kana og P6,000,” Garcia explained.

Senior citizens will also get P3,000, which is six months-worth of their usual monthly allowance paid in advance, on top of the P6,000 given per qualified household.

In the said meeting, it was clarified that there are no guidelines set for the distribution but local government units (LGUs) are deputized by the DSWD to distribute, Garcia said.

Lucero said the funds will be downloaded to the LGUs once the necessary documents will be completed such as the Memorandum of Agreement between DSWD and LGU, resolution from the Sangguniang Panlunsod, and the list of households.

Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas asked Garcia to facilitate a meeting with the two national government agencies after his constituents kept on asking where the national government’s promised P6,000 cash per household is.

Also present in the meeting were Deputy Speaker Pablo John Garcia, 5th District Representative Duke Frasco, League of the Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP)-Cebu Chapter President and Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco, Naga City Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong, and Carcar City Mayor Mercedita Apura.
