On Lenten Season: No “Selfies” in Facebook for Safety Purposes
Since it’s Holy Week, many people are taking the opportunity and time travelling to vacation spots, hometowns in the provinces and also to beautiful beaches. And due to excitement and fun, it has been our habit to take pictures, especially “selfies” pictures with the places we’ve been, then post it in social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
But before you plan to leave home, take heed of some precautionary measures first.
“When the cat is away, the rat is at play.” When you go out of your homes this Holy Week, make sure that you properly locked the doors and windows. This is to avoid thieves to get into your homes and rob your things.
Aside from that, make sure to keep track who can view your travel photos in social networks. Make sure to customize it— make it viewable to desired persons only, or perhaps just keep it private and don’t upload it all to be safe.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), posting travel photos during the Lenten season is a warning because it could give the “Akyat Bahay” gang members ideas whose houses are easier to rob. In fact, the PNP has already placed all its units in the country under intensified alert to ensure the safety of the citizens.
This is awareness that even thieves are now resourceful and innovative in getting information for their targets. And if you are not aware of their new tactics, then you’re prone to be their prey.
It’s good to travel without worrying of anything that might ruin our happiness. It’s better if we have to take heed of some precautionary measures and not just go wild, enjoying the vacation escapade without limits and not thinking of safety.
In fact, it’s always best to enjoy every vacation while being smart and alert to ensure safety, and prevention of unwanted losses and damages—done by unwanted guests.
