OFWs Ready To Help on Railroad Projects in PH
Over 50 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) came to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to express their willingness to help in the railroad projects in the country on July 3, 2019.
The OFWs consists of engineers, machine operators, and workers that are experts in mining, electrical, piping and drill and blasting.
Deovanni Miranda, an OFW from Denmark said they serve on other countries for years, today, it’s time to utilize their expertise to help their own country.
“Ilang taon na kaming nanilbihan sa ibang bansa. Ngayon, bansa naman natin ang tulungan. Bumalik kami sa Pilipinas para sa bayan, dahil nasa puso namin na suportahan ang ating gobyerno at ang bawat Pilipino,” Deovanni Miranda said.
DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade expressed his thanks to the OFWs for their willingness to help the country.
“Napakalaki ng aking pasasalamat sa inyong hangarin na bumalik sa bansa upang makibahagi sa pagbabago sa ilalim ng liderato ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte. Alam ko na hindi ito madali sapagkat ipinagpapalit niyo ang inyong mas malaking kita para sa pagkakataong makatulong sa bayan. Pero, pagkakataon na rin ito upang magamit ninyo ang iyong expertise nang hindi nalalayo sa inyong mga pamilya,” said Tugade.
Tugade also urge the 12 contractors of the major railroad projects to hire the OFWs on the spot as they are already skilled and qualified for the job.
Meanwhile, The heads of MRT-3, LRTA, and PNR expressed their interest to hire the OFWs in their agency.
The major railroad projects are the Metro Manila Subway, MRT-3 Rehabilitation Program, LRT-1 Cavite Extension, LRT-2 East Extension, at ang PNR Clark Phase 1.
