Odi’s Adventure to the Wild” — The Solo Exhibition of Kenichi Wani
Presenting yet another segment of the Rising Artist Series, Qube Gallery welcomes you to “Odi’s Adventure to the Wild” — the solo exhibition of Filipino-Japanese surrealist, Kenichi Wani.
Odi is the eccentric and endearing figure who stands out in a sea of other round characters Kenichi has been known to paint. Mirroring Wani’s move into becoming a full-time artist, Odi sets out into the wilderness- a realm of all things uncertain.
This shift is described as Odi gets in varying circumstances of fun, trouble or just trying to get things together. Follow Odi’s journey through the paintings and interactive art presented and experience a snippet or two of his life, and well, its oddities.
Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s, and is best known for its visual artworks and writings. The aim was to “resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality.”
Artists painted unnerving, illogical scenes with photographic precision, created strange creatures from everyday objects and developed painting techniques that allowed the unconscious to express itself.
