Oct. 15, A Special Non-Working Holiday in Bohol to Commemorate 2013 Quake
October 15 will be a special non-working day in the province of Bohol to commemorate the first anniversary of a magnitude-7.2 quake that devastated the province last year.
The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in Central Visayas said this holiday was declared under Proclamation 887.
According to PIA VII, Proc. 887 declared October 15 as a special non-Working Holiday in Bohol to commemorate the first anniversary of the earthquake.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported at least 222 people were reported killed, while 976 were injured and eight reported missing after the 7.2 magnitude quake hit the province last year.
It also devastated parts major parts of Bohol, heavily damaging historic churches there.
The NDRRMC also said the quake affected 671,103 families or 3,221,248 people in 1,527 barangays in 60 towns in six cities in six provinces of Western and Central Visayas.
